Memoirs of a Former Stock Trader (Day Trading, Swing Trading Mistakes)

Young and dumb, I spent an obsessive amount of time on investing and how to trade the stock market in my 20s. Day trading, swing trading, options trading – trading overall became like a drug to me.

From staring at my screen(s) to constant anxiety of my portfolio value, my whole identity centered around growing my money – a side effect of growing up poor. In this video, I describe my personal experience of learning about the markets through books and sketchy YouTube finance educators. I discovered real quick how turbulent of an experience trading can be, and the final nail in my coffin was the discovery of options trading. Ultimately, while the experience was stressful, I’m grateful that I came out of it with an understanding of investing that will certainly help in the future.

Some great books for those learning about money and the stock market:
The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ Demarco
